New accessibility resources from Adobe
New material has just been posted by Adobe to help improve understanding of PDF accessibility.
Microsoft assistive technology showroom
A new showroom at Microsoft demonstrates how disabled people and the elderly use technology. Current exhibits include technology used by someone with limited use of their hands, and technology to support dyslexia.
Accessible iTunes
iTunes 8 is now accessible with Jaws v10 beta and Apple are committed to making iTunes accessible to all systems by next June.
OpenOffice 3.0 for Mac
OpenOffice 3.0 is now available with much improved accessibility features including integration with Mac OS X accessibility APIs.
Customised Yahoo search service
Yahoo is providing a new service called BOSS (Build Your Own Search Service) to academics and start-ups. The service enables users to build their own search sites and integrate the Yahoo search engine for free.
Turing test results
The Turing test run at Reading University last Sunday to determine whether human judges could distinguish computers from humans still had humans in the lead, but the computers are catching up.
