23 MAY 2007
Maximise the impact of your design and marketing; remaining innovative while ensuring that your communications are accessible to disabled people.
Innovative and accessible graphic design and marketing Workshop
Friday 15 June 2007, 10am – 4pm. Hosted by the Insolvency Service, London
One in three people are disabled or close to someone who is. They are your customers, employees and stakeholders, partners and competitors. Communicating effectively to all of these groups, in an accessible way using different media, is fundamental to the success of your business.
This event is designed to make it easier for you to maximise the impact of your design and marketing; remaining innovative while ensuring that your communications are accessible to disabled people. It is widely accepted that if you make your communications accessible for disabled people you make them easy to use and understand by all stakeholders. Working in small groups you will be able to find solutions to key issues and discuss with your colleagues how to get it right for your organisation.
This workshop is run by disability trainer, Simon Minty, Director, Minty & Friend. There will also be input from Wire Design Ltd., a leading company in creating accessible design and AbilityNet a national charity that makes it easier for disabled adults to use the internet by adapting and adjusting technology. There will also be input from the experience of our members and their examples of best practice.
This event will enable you to:
- Maximise your creativity whilst ensuring that you appeal to a wider audience.
- Understand the needs of different disabled users and the solutions available in ensuring that your design and marketing is accessible.
- Learn from the experience of successful designers and marketing professionals who apply principles of creative design to a wider audience.
- Understand the relationship with your suppliers, taking into consideration your legal and best practice obligations when procuring a service.
- Ensure that your websites are designed according to recognised web standards, whilst also giving you design flexibility.
- Learn to use software accessibly, including Flash and PDF documents.
- Create an action plan to make it happen back at your office.
