Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance checks
Seven years on from the relevant sections of the Disability Discrimination Act coming into effect most organisations still have inaccessible systems and websites.
Do you know if you are DDA compliant? AbilityNet can help
You may have a particular website or application you wish to have reviewed. We can audit your websites and software applications or undertake disabled user testing to ensure they are accessible.
Alternatively you may not be aware of your overall DDA compliance situation and have a larger number of websites, intranets and internal systems you wish to have reviewed.
If you aren't aware of your current DDA compliance status it is important that you mitigate this as quickly as possible. The two essential things that all organisations need are a clearly documented snapshot of their current DDA compliance status and a roadmap with firm milestones for achieving compliance.
AbilityNet can help. We can provide such a snapshot review which will feed directly into a roadmap. We have undertaken such reviews for government departments and commercial companies and this approach has proved very popular.
"Just to let you know that I found the report to be very comprehensive and it covered a lot of issues that are of concern. I understand that the report will be acted upon and will receive the full support of The Pension Service executive team."
Brian Aungles, Accuracy and Security Management Information Officer, The Pension Service
We are the only organisation that combines the expertise to know what constitutes DDA compliance with this unique service. There has been only one legal case in the UK to date, Latif vs PMI (PDF 2.7MB), and AbilityNet’s Robin Christopherson was chosen as the expert technical witness.
The snapshot review results in a report with each application, intranet or website ranked by an easy to follow 'traffic light' system - red, green or amber depending upon the level of accessibility they offer to a broad range of disabilities and access technologies. In every case where a green light is not achieved an indication of the nature and severity of the issues are given.
You will also receive an executive report summarising the overall compliance situation across all your systems and websites.
Typically a snapshot review would take 2-5 days on-site (depending upon the number and complexity of your systems and websites) and 1-3 days to write up the reports.
Please contact us to discuss the scope of your requirements and we will provide a quote. We are currently able to deliver snapshot reviews within 3 weeks of commission.
