AbilityNet wins for BT/Telephone Helplines Association Awards 2007
08/03/2007
AbilityNet have heard that our entry for a BT/Telephone Helplines Association Awards 2007 has won an award.
The Telephone Helplines Association (THA) is recognised as the main source of specialist information relating to the setting up and running of non-profit helplines in the UK and Ireland. The aim of the Awards is to highlight and share significant achievement by the Association’s members over the last 12 months. The Awards complement the THA Quality Standard in promoting quality and confidence for callers to helplines.
Our entry is under the category ‘Integrating multiple technologies to provide services’ and is on our barrier free assessment service.
This service, developed in 2006, offers assessment of computer needs to individuals at home over the internet and extends the reach of our Advice and Information service. Barrier Free Assessment can take many routes. With the aid of broadband internet access, immediately downloadable software and a webcam, AbilityNet staff can remotely view and access the clients screen to help with computer access and make adjustments where necessary or try out equipment we have loaned them. Further advice can then be offered by AbilityNet’s staff on accessible software and hardware as part of the extended Advice and Information Service to individuals. This flexibility for both client and staff allows us to offer more services to the client as well as reaching more people in need.
The winners were announced at the awards ceremony on 12th March 2006 and as previous winners we are really pleased that we are the lucky recipients again this year.
