IT and disability – more of the best jobs in the world
AbilityNet is the leading UK charity for computing and disability. In 2005 we supported over 490,000 adults and children through direct work, training and online services.
We have a network of centres, mainly hosted by major IT companies, and are working with an increasing number of partners and affiliates to provide a quality managed local service for disabled people.
Demand for our services grows with our reputation. The people who work for AbilityNet are our greatest asset and a hugely talented group, who combine passion for what we do with great communication skills and IT knowledge.
How would you like to use your experience to enable people with a disability or limiting condition to use technology to change and enhance their lives?
We are looking for exceptional people for the following roles:
Ergonomic Assessors
Permanent Work Based Assessment Opportunity
AbilityNet is a national charity helping disabled adults and children use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology. Our special expertise is ensuring that whatever the age, health, condition, disability or situation of our clients, they find exactly the right way to adapt or adjust their ICT to make it easier to use.
To do this, we have a team of ICT and Ergonomic Assessors who review the needs of clients and recommend assistive technology and training to make their use of ICT possible.
The Ergonomic Assessor will assist clients to retain their employees who have specific health conditions and/or disabilities and require specialist equipment and/or adaptations to the work environment.
We are currently recruiting two additional members of the Assessment Team, one of which could be a graduate post. This post would suit a graduate Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Ergonomist, who would like to specialise in the area of assistive technology assessment and work place assessment. Training in assistive technology assessment will be provided by one of our partner organisations. These posts will be based either in the South or in the North of England.
